Lieder Recitals

We owe the first song cycle in the history of music to Ludwig van Beethoven: with his song cycle 'An die ferne Geliebte' (To the Distant Beloved), Op. 98, he laid the foundations for a tradition of art song that would come to define the Romantic era. The series of recitals at the Beethoven-Haus is dedicated to this tradition.
